design?" Why is it possible to get
two different answers to the questions?

is a "center" and how do centers relate to wholeness?
5. Draw
an example of the pattern "Entrance Transition" and describe it in a
few sentences.
6. Make
a drawing that shows the spatial property Graded Variation.
7. Make
a drawing that shows the two properties ALTERNATING REPETITION and CONTRAST
working together.
8. Make
a drawing that shows the two properties LEVELS OF SCALE and DEEP INTERLOCK
working together.
9. Make
a drawing of the following photograph of the Yellow Tower. On your drawing, identify the strong
centers, and articulate the field of minor centers that support them.
10. Give
an example of how the strength of a major center depends on the strengths of
the fields of centers of which it is a part.
11. Give
an example where ornament and function in a built form are interrelated. Provide a small sketch.
12. How
does your analysis of a form language of architecture or by an architect relate
to the notions of wholeness, centers, and the fifteen properties?
